"Take a virtual trip with me to Bhutan in the Himalayas! It's one of the most remarkable places on earth. Bhutan is 200 miles from east to west and 100 miles north to south, but it has every climate zone, from glaciers in the north to rainforest in the south. It’s an ecological hotspot where Bengal Tigers, who are losing their habitats on the Indian plains, have migrated north and adapted to mountain life. In Bhutan, they’re protected and roam freely. There’s a mother and cub that live above our house, which is in an apple orchard above Thimphu. Luckily, we've never met."

Her best-selling books MARRIED TO BHUTAN: How One Woman Got Lost, Said ‘I Do,’ and Found Bliss (Hay House 2011, National Geographic 2012) and A FIELD GUIDE TO HAPPINESS: What I Learned in Bhutan About Living, Loving, and Waking Up (Hay House 2014), have been translated into numerous languages.
She wrote the text that accompanies Joseph N. Barker’s photographs in VANISHING FACES OF BHUTAN: The Study of a Timeless culture, published in April 2016 by the Bhutan Foundation. She is represented by DeFiore & Co in New York.
The writer Eric Weiner included her in his bestseller, The Geography of Bliss.
Originally from Nashville, she has an MFA in fiction from the University of Arizona. She has taught Writing and English and worked with the United Nations, IBM, the University of Arizona, and the National Art School of Bhutan. She lives in Thimphu and is married to Bhutanese artist, Phurba Namgay.
